I love picnics. There is something about being able to have all of your favorite snacks in one place and being outdoors that brings me an immense amount of joy. With that, there’s also a bit of stress that can come along with packing the perfect picnic. Once you’re out on that beach or in that park, you’re THERE. You may be thinking “Summer is almost over”, but in my opinion, Fall is the best picnic season. The pumpkin patch and apple orchards are waiting, so here are my tips and tricks for packing the perfect picnic!

  1. The Main Dish

When packing a picnic, it’s important that you have a main dish for people to share. This is going to be the star of your picnic and helps you plan which “supporting cast” snacks would go best with that dish.

    2. Reusable containers

The best picnic is a zero waste picnic. Plan to bring all of your own food containers and wash them at home later. This way you’re not creating a ton of waste for a small outing.

    3. Napkins

While there’s no picnic while like a zero waste picnic, if you' don’t have linen towels, bring a couple of napkins. Set the standard that people only take one, if they need one, but I’ve seen many a spill at a picnic, so this is a must.

    4. Glasses

I like to opt in for mason jars, they are sturdy and have a great base for standing up on grass or digging into the sand.

    5. Plates

While most food at a picnic is finger food, plates add a touch of class to any picnic.

    6. Serving Dish

In order to make your picnic as picture perfect as possible, there should be one beautiful serving platter that pulls everything together. For this picnic, it was this adorable cheese tray that I got in my Fab Fit Fun box!

    7. Wine and Water

The two W’s! A nice bottle or can of wine is the perfect edition to a picnic, just make sure your park or beach allows it! Water is a MUST, if you’re out in the sun, people are going to get thirsty. make sure you have both.

    8. A Cooler

Keep it cool. I opt in for a cooler backpack for zero fuss.

    9. A picnic blanket

The perfect picnic blanket has tarp on one side. No one likes a wet grass surprise.
