Laundry Day
When you’re making the switch over to a more natural household, one of the first things to change is your laundry routine. Laundry is a great place to start when it comes to making your home more natural. Laundry has become a very therapeutic experience for me. There isn’t a Saturday better spent than one where you lock yourself indoors with a glass of wine and knock out a couple of fresh loads of laundry.
When I first wanted to make the switch to more natural products, I feared that my clothes wouldn’t get clean enough or that they wouldn’t smell fresh enough. All of that simply isn’t true. We don’t need all of the yucky ingredients that exist in normal detergents to get clothes clean. Here are my tips for a fun filled laundry day.
LAUNDRY DETERGENT
Laundry detergent is the first step in getting your clothes nice and clean. Nellie’s is my favorite washing powder. I first used this one at my favorite laundromat, linked [HERE] for those of you located in San Francisco, and I was hooked after. Molly’s Suds is another great powder detergent that gets the job done and comes in a number of fresh scents, including Peppermint and Lavender.
STAIN REMOVER
A great way to brighten up your whites is to add Lemon Essential Oil to the wash. This really brings dull whites back to life.
SOFTENER
I swear by wool dryer balls. THIS SET from Saje Wellness is wonderful because it combines a laundry fresh essential oil with the wool dryer balls to keep your fabrics super soft and with a lasting fresh scent.
FRESH SCENT
If you’re looking for a way to keep fabrics fresh after the wash, ditch the artificially scented fabric sprays and pick up THIS SPRAY.
Also, how cute are these towels? They are called the “Simone” towels. You can find them [HERE].
