Pantry Staples for a Supportive Diet
by Simone Ajani
It’s 2021. Finally. Like, finally, finally.
We won’t get into what a dumpster fire of a year 2020 was, but we all know.
We have a new year ahead, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how much I owe my body this year. I want to thank my body for supporting me and being there for me, and I’m thinking a lot of what I put into my body. I am also an obsessive organizer for the New Year. Those six days between Christmas and New Year’s Day where many relax are my organizing days. I clear out everything I don’t want to take into the new year and organize everything in sight. So, of course, the pantry received a complete overhaul.
My question for this year, when it comes to food, is “how is this serving me?” Sometimes, this will make me put down the gluten filled cookie because I know it will make me sick, but sometimes it will mean picking up the mozzarella stick because my emotions and spirit needs it. I love to be prepared, so it is important to me to keep my pantry stocked with items I frequently use to cook or bake with. There are staple items that I always keep on hand, and I wanted to share them in the event your pantry is due for a restock. Here are some of my must haves:
Dry Goods
Almond Flour
Oat Flour
Coconut Sugar
Raw Honey
Nuts (pecans, pistachios, almonds, walnut, cashews)
Coconut Milk
Arrowroot Powder
White Rice
Red Beans
Chia Seeds
Almond Butter
Refrigerated Goods
Cashew Milk or Almond Milk
Plain Sheep’s Milk Yogurt
Primal Kitchen Avocado Mayonnaise
Lemons & Limes
Maple Syrup
Coconut Yogurt
Vegetable Broth
Bone Broth
Miso Paste
Califia Farms Dairy Free Butter
Eggs
Countertop Items
Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Avocado Oil
Listen to your body this year, and give it what it needs, and when you identify what that is, make sure you already have it on hand!
