Our Mask is Making Us Breakout Too. Here's What We're Doing.

So, we’ve all been breaking out from our masks, right?

I’ve accepted that masks are the future, so naturally, I’ve bought one in every print, color, and type. Over the head, around the ears, you name it, I have it. I feel like I’ve been wearing a mask more often than I haven’t, so I didn’t even realize when I had completely broken out underneath. From my cheeks to my chin, I have these small pimples that have popped up all over. I’ve found a few tricks that have helped to calm these breakouts, so I wanted to share!

Masking after Masking

One important step is to mask, after you mask. Not everyday, but try and aim for three times a week. Masks are a great way to dry out the blemishes and help your skin balance oil production. I’ve found that clay masks are the best for these particular blemishes that I’m getting from masks (the kind from a mixture of sweat and clogged pores. TMI?)

Wash Your Masks

Washing your masks is #1! It can be so tempting to continue to wear the same mask and just throw it back in your bag. Feels harmless enough, right? EEEK. With it being summer, it is HOT outside, which means we’re all sweating in our masks and then putting them right back on our face. We have to keep them clean! It’s important to use a gentle detergent. Using a harsh detergent with fragrance can also cause breakouts.

Oil Up

Tea Tree Oil has come in clutch. I apply this on my pimples every night, after I wash my face, but before my moisturizer. I apply the oil neat and let it do its thing overnight. I would say this has been the biggest helper in seeing improvement.
