Dental Revolution

by AJANI

Dental hygiene is in.  It seems like everywhere we turn there's toothpaste with drool-worthy packaging and a toothbrush claiming to be the best thing for your teeth since the dentist, and we aren't proud of it, but we are exactly who they are marketing to.  We are the target of the clickbait and the Instagram ads, but we did this for you.  We tried it all so that you don't have to.

We based our favorites off of their ingredients and the results we saw.  So, here are our top picks:

The Toothbrush

  • quip - This toothbrush is subscription based, so it takes all of the guess work out of replacement and maintenance.  Battery powered with a brush surrounded by silicone bristles, this brush is super gentle on the gums.  There's a timer that breaks two minutes into four 30 second segments so that you're able to focus on the four quadrants of your mouth.  The brush buzzes when it's time to move to the next section and shuts off after two minutes is up.  For five dollars, every three months, you receive a replacement brush head and replacement battery.  quip was designed by designers and dentists, so it passes both the dental test and the Instagram test. We dig it.

The Toothpaste

  • Young Living Thieves AromaBright Toothpaste - This toothpaste isn't like what you're probably used to.  There's no foaming or suds due to the natural ingredients that go into this toothpaste, but that doesn't change how clean your teeth feel after brushing.  With essential oils in the paste, you're getting all of the odor protection naturally as opposed to from the toxic chemicals and flavorings that exist in most toothpastes.  We'll continue to use this one.

We tried many others, and what we found is that a lot of the toothpastes we hear the most about have some pretty intense ingredients that are difficult to pronounce.  We couldn't be the suckers for packaging that we usually are, but we think we found some keepers.  Are there any we missed?  Sound off below, and get to brushing.
